Logging In:

Before you can make a post you must login. The link to the login is found at the top right of the first page. Once you are logged in you will see the ‘login’ link replaced by a ‘Site Admin’ link. Use this to make further posts once logged in.

Posting

Once logged in you will see the ‘Dashboard’ which contains brief instructions on the desired content for each report and links to ‘Write’, ‘Manage’, and ‘Profile’. To file a report click on the ‘Write” link. This takes you to the ‘Write Post’ interface. Simply fill out the ‘Title’ and ‘Post’ boxes and hit ‘Publish’ to file a report.

Categorization

Before you ‘Publish’ a report please make sure you assign the proper categories to it. The ‘Categories’ are found on the right side of the ‘Write Post’ interface and are simple check boxes. Check all categories that apply to the report that you are making. For instance if you are filing a Flight Debrief for an instrument on the DC-8 you would check Flight Debrief as well as either Green, Yellow, or Red to represent the status of the instrument during the flight.

Uploading Files

To upload a file for a post use the ‘Upload’ interface immediately beneath the ‘Write Post’ interface. Click on the ‘Browse’ button to open a file explorer window which you will use to select the file to be uploaded. Fill out the ‘Title’ and ‘Description’ boxes and click ‘Upload’. This uploads the file to the server. In order for it to be visible to others you need to link it into a post.

Linking Files Into a Post:

Once the file has been uploaded you can use the ‘Browse All’ tab of the upload interface to include the file in a post. Simply click on the listed file and select ‘Send to Editor’ from the menu which appears. This places a link to the file at the cursor position in the ‘Post’ box. If the file is an image, be sure to select ‘Link to Image’ first and then ‘Send to Editor’. This will make sure that the full size image is available to readers.

Editing:

You must be logged in to edit a post. Once you are logged in there are two ways to edit a post. The first is to select the ‘Manage’ tab from the Dashboard, locate the desired post in the list and click ‘Edit’. The other is to find the post on the main page and click the ‘Edit’ link at the bottom of the post. Once you have made the desired changes, which can include changing the content of the post, changing the categories assigned to the post and adding or removing files linked into the post, click ‘Save’ to publish the changes.
